It says a lot when a business can proudly state they will be celebrating 70 years of success. It says quality and service has been second to none while generation after generation have kept to the spirit and tradition of Frank M. Marquez who imigrated to the United States to follow his dream.

Frank M. Marquez was born in Michoacan, Mexico on October 4, 1909. He was the youngest child of Jose Maria and Margarita Mendez-Marquez. He lost his father at a very young age and was raised by his mother and older siblings. The family migrated to the U.S. when he was seven. Frank attended school up to the seventh grade. He then went to work in the fields to help support the family. He loved his mother dearly and looked up to his older brothers and sisters with a great deal of respect. At the age of 19, he married Frances Alvarado on November 8, 1930.

Frank co-founded, along with his brothers Transito and Juan, a fledgling enterprise which bore the name of "Marquez Bros". The Business consisted of the growing, buying and selling of various types of produce at market. Altough successful, Frank wanted to venture on his own. Following his instincts and with the help of Frances and their children, the business grew and flourished.

During the summer months, Frank and his family operated a number of road-side stands selling produce that he harvested. More than simply providing an additional source of income to the business, “The Stand” served a dual purpose. First it provided a means by which the grandchildren came together for experience early on, the joy and importance of working together as a family. Secondly, in the eyes of many it was a gift to the community which continues on today with Marquez Restaurant.
